![]() 08.45 Thursday 23rd May19. After dropping the kids at school it was off to Gatwick, I arriveD at the North Terminal at 11.30 ready for a 13.30 flight to Geneva, 1h.15mins I later arrived at Geneva Airport. Too late to catch the direct Bus to Annecy so I jumped on the train to the bus station with the free ticket you can pick up at the baggage area. I ate my warm Pret whilst I waited 20mins for a bus, Pret gone & £4.90 later I was on the T72 bus to Annecy, 1hr later I arrived at the Annecy bus Station which just happened to be opposite the Hotel Des Alpes, my base for the weekend. A quick check in and unpack it was time to meet friends in the old town for Pizza, A short bimble back through the town via the Lake on route to the hotel. Good Night... ![]() Day 2 The pre race nerves are starting to kick in now... So what does one do? Don the inov8s and hit the tarmac & trails, let's face it, it would be rude not to as I am in one of the most stunning places in France. I arranged to meet friends outside last nights Pizzeria below Le Chateau d'Annecy. As planned we met at 06:30 and headed off down Rue de l'lle past Vienille Ville d'Annecy, over to lake, past the Maxi Race village finally reaching the final descent of all the Maxi Races. We stood at a small gap between some buildings on the roadside looking up the rocky trail, the draw was far too great to resist so we decided to start our ascent... ![]() Salomon Maxi Race Village ![]() The Ascent, The views... Stunning. I can not wait to actually get on the start line in the morning. For today its back to the Hotel for breakfast and then off to the Maxi race village to collect the race number and check out all the gear on offer and try not to melt the credit card...
